The Displacement Risk Index includes 15 indicators, all weighted equally, to identify census tracts and neighborhoods that are at higher risk of residential displacement. The original index was created in 2018 (based on 2016 ACS data, 2014 base year) and updated in 2021 (based on 2019 ACS data, 2018 base year). The 2026 update will be the second update (based on 2024 ACS data, 2023 base year).
The scripts stored within this repo help to generate the individual displacement risk indicators and create the consolidated risk index. Each indicator is stored within its subfolder, along with some additional documentation defining the indicator and any supplemental notes about generating the data.
