|An HL7 change proposal for v2.9 for a new trigger event (ORU^R42) has been|
|submitted in order to provide the ability for systems consuming           |
|observation data to differentiate messages that represent device events   |
|from other observations.                                                  |
|The IPEC supplement currently uses ORU^Rxx to designate the trigger event.|
|The purpose of this CP is to update all of the     trigger references from|
|ORU^Rxx to ORU^R42.                                                       |


Open Issues Section – modify as follows:
    • ORU^Rxx trigger event number will be assigned at a later time.
    • Possible alignment with the Pharmacy domain through the use of the
      RAS^O17 message instead of ORU^Rxx

    • ORU^R42 trigger event number will be balloted for HL7 version 2.9 at a
      later time.
    • Possible alignment with the Pharmacy domain through the use of the
      RAS^O17 message instead of ORU^R42
